Tension headaches are extremely common and people who have never had them are more the exception than the rule! If you suffer from frequent or very bothersome tension headaches, I advise you first to apply the preventive measures that we have described (reduction of stress and alcohol, regular exercises). These lifestyle changes could be very beneficial. Otherwise, I advise you to consult your doctor who will assess with you the relevance or not of a preventive medication. Finally, I recommend considering acupuncture and relaxation methods with biofeedback that may provide relief as well.

If, on the other hand, the nature of your usual headaches changes, either becoming much more severe, or accompanied by unusual symptoms, such as vomiting or visual disturbances, do not hesitate to consult your doctor.

Finally, if you have a sudden, severe headache, or if it is accompanied by fever, stiff neck, confusion, double vision, trouble speaking, numbness or weakness in one side of the body, see a doctor urgently.
