During pregnancy, many women worry about their weight gain. How did you experience this period?

We are three girls in the family. With each of her pregnancies, my mother gained between 25 and 30 kg. It seems that it’s hereditary… Well, I got lucky: I gained 10 kg, at the rate of one kilo per month, for the first 6 months. I was told “you will see, you will take a lot at the end”, but I did not have “acceleration”. I also controlled my weight a lot during pregnancy, whereas in normal times I only weigh myself once every three weeks.

Pregnant, I admit that I didn’t have any sweet tooth or cravings either. It makes my husband laugh when I say that, but I wanted to eat healthy and especially carrots, freshly grated!

You gave birth in the United States. Based on your experience and the experiences of other mothers, how is it different from France?

Giving birth in the United States is less stressful. During my pregnancy, I was shocked by the number of medical examinations that are given to pregnant women. I understand better where the security hole comes from. We are treated like sick people. In the United States, there are fewer exams, but at the same time, we also sign more discharges …

What reassured me was that the maternity unit was equipped with a level 3 neonatal service. I gave birth in my room, which was not at all “medical unit”. Quite the opposite of the experience of friends who explained to me that they gave birth in the basement of the maternity ward.

In the room, there was my husband and a “nanny” who was there to reassure me. She stayed from 20 p.m. to 1 a.m. No one was under stress. During labor, I even spoke with my midwife from the French Riviera.

An anecdote about your pregnancy?

When I found out he was a little guy, I couldn’t believe it. Having lived with three sisters, I imagined a little thing with a tutu and quilt.

A little later, my gynecologist told me to calm down, otherwise I would give birth on the set, next to Jean-Pierre Foucault.
